TOBE HOOPER 1943-2017

We lose another horror legend as Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper has passed away at the age of 74. Hooper created a horror masterpiece with Leatherface and family and then went on to direct a number of other notable films such as Eaten Alive, The Funhouse, Poltergeist and Lifeforce. He is a horror visionary who will be sadly missed though he has left a legacy that will live forever. Cause of death has currently not been released.

ANTON YELCHIN 1989-2016

It is with great sadness that MonsterZero NJ’s Movie Madhouse reports the tragic death of the talented and very endearing Anton Yelchin. It has been reported that the 27 year-old actor was killed in a tragic accident where he was pinned by his own vehicle to a brick mailbox and fence on his property. The circumstances as to how this happened are yet unknown. Yelchin appeared in numerous genre films such as Odd Thomas, Terminator Salvation, the Fright Night remake, the recent Green Room, Burying The Ex and J.J. Abram’s Star Trek reboot series as Mr. Chekov. He was an up and coming talent who is gone from us far too soon!

FRANCIS “FRANK” FINLAY 1926-2016

This weekend we lost wonderful British character actor Frank Finlay. Most known to horror fans from Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce and in my opinion, as one of the best Van Helsing portrayals in the 1977 BBC Count Dracula adaptation with Louis Jourdan as Dracula. To other movie fans he was beloved as Porthos in the classic 70s Three and Four Musketeers with Christopher Lee and Oliver Reed and starred along with Richard Burton and Roger Moore in the 1978 action epic The Wild Geese, as a cantankerous missionary. A theater trained actor, who also worked on British television, with a career spanning five decades and 60 films…many classics! He passed away in his home at 89 years-old.
