But if there is a gift these holiday horrors bring, it’s a bevy of cuties and foxy final girls to warm our hearts like chestnuts roasting over an open fire. Black Christmas is one of the original modern slasher films and graced us with the beautiful Olivia Hussey as final girl Jess and a pre-Superman Margot Kidder as sexy, saucy Barb!

This year was an easy choice as Goth was simply amazing in not one but two roles, in not one but two films! As the tough porn star wannabe Maxine, and the demented product of broken dreams Pearl, she was outstanding. A third film is on the way from Ti West centering on Maxine, and we can’t wait to see it!

This latest installment of Halloween Hotties features an up-and-coming Latina actress who has become a familiar and beloved face to the horror community! Jenna Ortega has been acting since she was ten years-old and over the last decade has made quite an impression with her versatile performances. Lately she has been appearing in quite a few horror-centric projects and we couldn’t be happier! 2022 has proven to be her most prolific year yet with no less than five horror themed roles! Her banner year of horror started with Scream (2022), then The Foo Fighters’ horror/comedy Studio 666, along with Ti West’s hit indie horror flick X. She also appeared in American Carnage and will be playing the title character in Tim Burton’s upcoming Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday, streaming on Netflix starting November 23rd! WOW, Jenna!

This year’s MonsterZero NJ’s Final Girl Rookie of the Year was the talented Amber Midthunder from Prey…but…there is another actress who blew us away with her impressive late entry into the 2022 horror arena in the gore-tastic sequel Terrifier 2, that opened just this October! She plays Sienna Shaw a girl who catches Art the Clown’s (David Howard Thornton) attention in the worst way. MONSTERZERO NJ’S FINAL GIRL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 2022!

This year’s MonsterZero NJ’s Final Girl Rookie of the Year is a relatively new girl on the block, though technically not a total rookie. She did appear in the 2018 cyber stalker chiller 14 Cameras, but her character was more of a damsel in distress. This Native American actress made a huge impression this year in her final girl debut in Prey as Naru, a young Comanche tribeswoman who has the heart of a warrior! When a strange creature starts stalking and killing her fellow tribe members, Naru vows to hunt and destroy this unknown “Predator”. While the iconic Predator franchise is more sci-fi than horror, Amber was so ass-kickingly awesome we couldn’t not nominate her on such a thin technicality! So, without further ado…MonsterZero NJ’s Final Girl Rookie of the Year 2022…

This latest installment of Halloween Hotties features an up-and-coming Latina actress who has recently taken the horror community by storm, with her roles in the hit “requel” Scream (2022) and the Netflix horror/comedy The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Jenna Ortega has been acting since she was ten years-old and in just nine years has built quite a resume of various roles. Lately she has been appearing in numerous horror themed projects and we couldn’t be happier! She first got a taste of the spooky at only eleven years-old starring in Nickelodeon’s Deadtime Stories mini-series and then later on in season 2 of Netflix’s psychodrama You. She then went full blown horror with Killer Queen, following it up with three titles in 2022, Scream (2022), The Foo Fighters’ horror/comedy Studio 666, and Ti West’s upcoming horror flick X. She’ll also be playing the title character in Tim Burton’s upcoming Addams Family spin-off Wednesday on Netflix, possibly releasing sometime later this year. Is Jenna Ortega the new queen of horror!?…only time will tell, but we hope so!

Not only did this versatile actress play the tough and resourceful teen Deena, but the “Fier Witch” herself, Sarah Fier, when the third entry had Deena reliving Fier’s final days through her eyes. Not only playing our final girl, but the villainous witch—or was she?—as well!

She really knocked our spooky socks off, though, with her performance in the creepy, weird Netflix series Brand New Cherry Flavor. The talented actress plays ambitious, young filmmaker Lisa Nova, a woman who gets involved with sleazy producers, witches and black magic when seeking fame, fortune and revenge in Hollywood! It’s a layered and emotion filled performance as back stabbing producers and eccentric witches are not the only ones with secrets.

Lisa Nova, a hot new director headed to Hollywood where dreams can be fulfilled or shattered!

HALLOWEEN HOTTIES: ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 2021!

This newest installment of Halloween Hotties features a relatively new girl on the block, though technically not a total rookie. She did appear in 10 episodes of season 2 of AMC’s The Terror series in 2019, but didn’t get her first lead role in a horror movie till the 2021 Netflix original No One Gets Out Alive. The Mexican born actress made an impression in her final girl debut as Ambar, an undocumented immigrant, who has moved into the wrong boarding house. The actress displayed some strong final girl/heroine qualifications, gave the role some nice emotional resonance and did some major ass-kicking! So without further ado…MonsterZero NJ’s Halloween Hotties rookie of the year 2021 is…

CRISTINA RODLO!

 CRISTINA RODLO as AMBAR in NO ONE GETS OUT ALIVE!

Cristina as Ambar, an undocumented immigrant just looking to make a living.
